Reindeer

This year's Christmas card design completed for Horlock Holdcroft Financial Consultants Ltd.

I took inspiration from drawing the reindeer at the Ashdown Forest Llama Farm on the A22. Jodie, one of Horlock Holdcroft's Administrator's is a fan of them too, so I decided to base the company Christmas card on my sketches.

The painting was worked in watercolour, maintaining solid drawing around the faces and antlers to hold the composition together. Otherwise, as usual I let the paint flow giving the animals a sense of movement. I used a limited palette, mailnly comprising burnt umber, French ultramarine, ultramarine violet, cerulean blue (I love it's opacity) and burnt sienna.

The Griffin Inn, Fletching (pen and wash) 76 x 56cm

To complement the bonfire painting now hanging in the window of Hill & Hill Gallery, I have just completed this view of the Griffin Inn. I really love this way of working as I ink in the drawing first and can them be more loose with watercolour later.
