Painting en plein air

I just loved painting in the garden today. You can't beat spending time outside, really looking to observe and appreciate the play of colours and tones, how they sit together and how they compliment each other. Your eye is un-hindered by the borders of a photograph, allowing you to play with scale. It can be daunting to find a composition out of a vast vista, so start with some quick sketches and decide what information is needed. You do give yourself a head start though, as the quality of the source can't be questioned.

I worked on an old apple tree in acrylics.
The canvas is 50x50cm
