Charcoal sunflowers, they are so sculptural.

Charcoal is a really lovely medium to use. I work just on plain cartridge paper usually, so the dust can slip over the surface easily; smudging, re-drawing and using a putty rubber to draw back into areas and reclaim some light.

This was a very quick sketch, but so helpful to understand the formation of the back of the flower.
