The Finishing Post (Plumpton Races) - Acrylic on canvas

I have been working on this subject all week. I don't usually paint horses, but I just love the atmosphere at the races, particularly right down by the rails, close to the action. I have kept my marks bold using a 1" and a 2" flat brush in the main, trying to maintain plenty of movement and energy in the strokes.

The canvas is 1m x 75cm

My studio! Time to give it a tidy perhaps... The 70cm square canvas in shot is the beginnings of The Globe Theatre, which is progressing - more soon!
