A good friend of mine dropped in a huge bag of delicious quinces at the weekend. Most of them have now become Membrillo for Christmas (- if it makes it that far), the rest had to be painted.
I am really enjoying still life again. It enables you to really control the lighting over a period of time and therefore wallow in observation! As ever I have kept my brush marks quite loose and energetic and maintain a fairly muted palette, letting the Indian/cadmium yellow fruits contrast with the mauve shadows.
