'Hug Me' ~ Watercolour and Ink on Bockingford

Meet my Mum's bear c1935. His name is 'Hug Me' and I wanted to paint his portrait especially for the Memorabilia exhibition in July, in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

I used a lot of Nut Brown Winsor and Newton drawing ink with the watercolour to achieve a rough texture for his fur. I continued this inky effect through into the background to pull the eye out from the focal object,  actually using black (by mistake), but liked the results!

He was the most patient sitter, he stayed still for days!
