Bronze Horse - Ist Century BC ~ watercolour, ink and pencil on Bockingford
I loved the RA Bronze exhibition earlier this year and have been working on this bronze horse for Ashdown gallery for their equine show later this month.
As you can see I have employed all my favourite techniques to achieve the patina on the metal. A simple palette of Indigo, Yellow Ochre, Viridian, Cobalt Turquoise and Quinacridone Gold was used to push the colour. See the folowing pictures for detailed views of the textures. (Cling, vodka, pencil shavings, Malden sea salt in the main)
Lastly, I have posted my initial planned sketch, together with the 30 second one that my son allowed me to do at the RA in my sketchbook!
